Jill Dredge – Lunch & Learn
When most people think of colored pencils they don’t automatically think of “fine art”. But colored pencil as an art medium in the hands of an artist the caliber of Jill Dredge quickly changes that outdated perception. Jill has mastered the medium’s primary technique of layering colors to achieve dramatic color and depth. Her finished art pieces are both beautiful to look at and technically well executed.
Jill was the featured artist at the monthly San Pedro River Arts Council’s Lunch and Learn program on February 20th. She discussed techniques, materials and advantages of colored pencil as an art medium before a gathering of 21 fellow artists. She stressed the use of quality materials, whether the intended result is for the purpose of selling or simply for the pleasure the artist receives from making art.
Jill is proficient in several mediums including pastels, oil, acrylic and graphic. Her love of the southwest and its creatures and landscape are evident in much of her work. She has exhibited in many national and international juried shows and is a member of several professional artist organizations.
Further examples of her work may be viewed on this website under the Our Members webpage tab on the main menu.
